Music Lessons
Ryan - Piano, Guitar
Ryan received his BA in Music from Anderson University with a concentration in piano and composition. He has been teaching for over 25 years. In addition to piano, he also plays the guitar, bass, drums, and sings. His style of teaching is unique, often utilizing his sense of humor. His passion for music is passed on to every student. He believes that learning is a lifelong process, and is humble enough to realize that he can even learn things from his students occasionally. Each lesson is approached with an open mind.
During his studies, Ryan was awarded a music composition scholarship, received honor society status, and sang with the Men’s Choir. He has a strong background in music theory and ear training. The composition studies opened up a new door for him, allowing him to compose and perform some avant-garde pieces for a wide variety of instruments, both for solo piano and with several small ensembles. He enjoys every style of music and has experience teaching them all, ranging from his vast knowledge of traditional music to his immense appreciation of music with atypical song structures. He encourages students to pursue composing their own music.
Ryan is a world traveler and his expeditions include trips to Romania, Hungary, Türkiye, and Hong Kong. He also enjoys chess and previously played competitively. Other hobbies include composing, recording, and performing his own music; hiking, and attending stand-up comedy and live concerts of all genres.
